the missing by chris mooney

the missingGripping enough especially the first few five or six chapters. I started to hate it when i had to follow the killer as he prepares for yet another murder (another mommy figure-obsessed / haunted serial killer; I like my killers mysterious!). But the ending may have made up for my mid-book angst as it was suitably horrible (psychologically-speaking). It even made up for the bland revelation of who the other killer was. this other killer was just so impersonal–even if he did figure prominently in the protagonist’s childhood… Hmmmnnn… Maybe this lack of character was done on purpose–to emphasize the coldness of this person when he is finally found out?
