Cravings by Laurell K. Hamilton, MaryJanice Davidson and Eileen Wilks - book review - Artseblis - urban fantasy

Laurell K. Hamilton writes well, but when I realized the Anita Blake story takes place after book five, I immediately turned to the next story. It’s too painful for me to remember about the emotional investment I placed on the Jean-Claude-Anita Blake pairing and to see how wasted it was in how the author turned Anita into a sex-starved super human, choosing titillation over good relationship development.

The story by MaryJanice Davidson takes place in the Undead Series. It was a fun, sweet read about a turned vampire on a pilgrimage to Minneapolis with her human crush. But the magic died when we finally reached the Vampire Queen, Undead’s vapid heroine.

Originally Human was very interesting and a quite touching story of beginning anew. It takes place in the World of the Lupi where we find out how one of the series regular acquired his special magical immunity. Based on this story, I have an idea that Eilieen Wilks’ world-building skill is formidable.

Rebecca York’s Burning Moon is a paranormal romance mixed with murder thriller, but I didn’t like it. I guess the story was too short for the characters to flesh out properly.
